The Osoyoos Lake Water Quality Society recently tested its new equipment which it was able to purchase after receiving grant funds from the Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB).

The new YSI data collection device, complete with the probe, cable and monitor was trialled by volunteers Dave Kumka, Trevor Reeves, Birgit Arnstein and captain Iain Fraser on May 11.

The equipment was also put through its paces when the full crew contingent did its regular lake monitoring routine, collecting data on temperature, dissolved oxygen, specific conductance and pH on Tuesday May 19.

Birgit Arnstein, OLWQS President said the Society’s Data Manager, Trevor Reeves was “very pleased with the new device. The crew were able to collect data at 2 metre intervals from the North Basin, White Sands, Central Basin and South Basin in less than 3 hours.”

She added: “We very much appreciate the ongoing generous support of the Okanagan Basin Water Board.”
